What are Chakras?

Chakras are energy stations located in your subtle body, not your physical body. They exist inside your energy body, in what is known as the aura. Chakras are powerhouse portals that take in information from your physical environment and your soul, assimilate it, store it, and expand it back out to your body and to your world.

The concept of chakras is found in the early traditions of Hinduism, but modern medicine is beginning to understand the powerful implications of the subtle body. The esteemed research centers of Johns Hopkins Hospital, Stanford University, and Harvard Medicalall have embraced energy healing as part of their approaches to mental and physical well-being.

Chakras

Chakras can be seen as a road map to help us navigate this world. When the chakras are open and flowing in alignment then our lives go pretty smoothly. We have a vibrant physical body and we are able to express our emotions in clear and healthy ways. We have good self-esteem and know that we belong in this world. We are able to have healthy relationships with ourselves and others and we can express our truth and listen with an open heart and open mind to others’ differing opinions. We are also able to connect and follow our intuition, as well as experience mental discipline. Lastly, when our chakras are in alignment, we are connected to the sacredness of life through our spirituality, creating a deeply textured and peaceful existence.

However, when our chakras are out of alignment and the energy is not flowing smoothly, we experience physical, emotional, mental, sexual and spiritual issues. A few examples are: anxiety, depression, sexual dysfunctions, foggy brain, physical illnesses, emotionally acting out in many different ways such as addiction to food, alcohol, gambling, social media, sex, spending, etc. You may experience feelings of being out of control with an excessive amount of energy, or you may lack the energy needed to create the life you so desperately want, but just can’t achieve.

One example of an energy system that is out of balance is when the overactive inner critic takes center stage. This part of us is often punitive to ourselves or others by using shame and judgment as a way to “survive” in this world. In order to protect ourselves, we unconsciously create defense mechanisms that mean well in our younger years, but become maladaptive in our adult lives.

ChakraDance

Chakradance is a well-being movement practice. It uses spontaneous dance, to specific chakra-resonant music, for the purpose of healing and re-tuning your whole energy system. The purpose of Chakradance is to simply to help you to more fully embody your soul.

For all of us, the seven major chakras are the energetic gateways through which body, mind and spirit come together. In Chakradance classes and courses, each of these seven chakras has its own unique body of wonderfully danceable music, resonating to its own specific vibrational frequencies.

Chakradance can simply be experienced as a joyful affirmation of who you truly are. Using spontaneous dance, creativity and your imagination, it leads to an awakening, a discovery of your true self. However, on a deeper level, Chakradance is also about healing and balance. By surrendering to the music of each chakra, we dance from the inside out and find ourselves awakening and healing ancient hurts.

Expressing—often for the first time—long-blocked emotions while opening ourselves up to levels of spiritual connection higher than we ever thought possible. No previous dance experience needed. There are no choreographed movements, as this is about you honoring your body and expressing it the way it desires to be expressed.
